Start a story

From Play, choose Story, then New story. Pick your characters and the area they’ll explore.

Starting a new story
A new story: who goes, and where.

Choose a goal

Choose what they’re after: Defeat a creature, find Treasure, or collect a Bounty. Then pick who or what they go after. You can say why they came; leave it empty and the storyteller finds a reason.

Choosing the goal
The goal, and who they go after.

Read on

The game plays the story out (every room, fight and door is real) and the storyteller writes it a page at a time. Choose Continue: your characters walk on, and fights play out on their own, using their skills.

The party panel shows their health and mana. When someone is hurt, Rest lets them sleep it off.

Take a turn

You can steer. Do says what they do (searching, resting or turning back happen in the game; anything else is told), Say gives them words, and Story adds to the tale.

Taking a turn: Do, Say or Story

The ending

The story ends when they reach their goal, or when you choose End.
