Experience
Your character earns experience (XP) for each creature they defeat. A creature about your own level is worth roughly a fifteenth of what you need for your next level.
Creatures well above you are worth more, and creatures well below you are worth much less:
| The creature is… | XP |
|---|---|
| 5 or more levels above you | 1½ times |
| 3 or 4 levels above you | 1¼ times |
| Within 2 levels of you | As normal |
| 3 or 4 levels below you | ¾ |
| 5 levels below you | Half |
| More than 5 levels below you | A tenth |
Levels
Each level needs more XP than the last. Characters level up to level 30, the top level.
| From level | XP to the next level |
|---|---|
| 1 | 400 |
| 5 | 2,600 |
| 10 | 6,500 |
| 20 | 18,000 |
| 29 | 32,600 |
Trains
You earn a train at every third level: levels 3, 6, 9 and so on. Each train raises one stat by one point. You spend them from your character’s page, using the trains chip under their name.
When you’re defeated
If your character is defeated, they lose a tenth of the XP they’ve earned towards their next level. They never lose a level.
